MyRPL commissioner note

Thank you for chosing MyRPL as your racquetball ladder management tool. As the commissioner you will have certain control and responsibilites over your league. You have the option to set bonus points, penalty points, and idle day limits. In addition, you have the control over who inputs match scores. Bonus points are designed to slightly reward players who play different opponents. This is important, because it creates a ladder or league of players that actually know each other. If the same players always play each other, that may create minature ladder leagues within the main ladder. Penalty points create incentives for players to play within a certain number of days. This is a great way to keep players playing and the leagues very active. Commissioners can allow players to enter in match scores of matches that they actually played or the commissioner can take on this task exclusively. If you are going to be the sole person who inputs match scores, I would advise two approaches.

  • At the play site, keep a drop box where players can drop in their scores after each match. These scores should include all players’ names in the match, scores, and the date and time. Once or twice a week, the commissioner should pick up the scores to enter them into the leagues MyRPL home page. This is how I managed the first RPL league. I checked the leagues drop box once or twice a week. I would input the scores on Sunday and print out a new ranking sheet to post at the club on Monday morning. Depending on the size of your league, the score input can take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes. My league had around 20 active players and it never took me more than 15 minutes to do this process twice a week.

  • If the local club that you play at has a front desk person; have them take the scores from the players as they are leaving and input the scores right away. The person at the front desk will have to be the commissioner, so that they will have the permission to enter in the match results. The commissioner also has the ability to allow all the members of the league enter in their own scores from the matches that they participated in. Lastly, the commissioner can set up the match score option so that both they and other players can input match results. Players can only input match scores from games in which they actually played in, but the commissioner can enter in match scores for any match, including those they where not a part of.

  • Your job as a league commissioner is very important to the success of the league. I know you will take this responsibilty seriously because you have already made a great decision by choosing MyRPL. If you have any questions, concerns, comments, or suggestions please feel free to email me at anytime on the contacts page.

Note: Once you have created your league, click the league settings button and create your league's play sites and courts. This must be done in order to use your league's match scheduler.
